Eligibility Criteria For Applying For PET 2026
- The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary (HS) [10+2] examination from recognized Boards/Councils with at least 50% marks in aggregate excluding marks secured in the optional/extra/fourth subject. [For candidates belonging to SC/ST(P)/ST(H) category there will be relaxation of 5% of marks in aggregate excluding marks secured in the optional/extra/fourth subject].
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam .
- The candidate must not be less than 18 years and not more than 34 years as on 1 July, 2026. There will be relaxaon by 2 years in upper age for candidates belonging to SC, ST(P) & ST(H) categories.

The official result and scorecards for the entrance test are scheduled to be declared on July 27, 2026.
SCERT prepares a District-wise merit list based on the marks secured by candidates in the Pre-Entry Test. Within each district, seats are divided by stream: 30% of the total seats are reserved for the Science stream, and 70% are reserved for Arts & other streams.
You must participate in mandatory online counselling to lock in your preferred choice of Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs).
Government institutes charge minimal basic tuition/admission fees (Rs. 1,350/year excluding electricity/exam costs), while private institutes cost Rs. 34,000/year.
